SAMELCO II attends SB Session in Hinabangan as part of its linkaging efforts on the current power situation

Posted on February 3, 2021

Hinabangan, Samar- In order to provide updates about the current power situation in the Municipality of Hinabangan, Samar, the Samar II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAMELCO II) team attended the Sangguniang Bayan session on February 1, 2021, at Hinabangan Municipal Session Hall.

This is in connection to the ongoing construction of 69KV Transmission Lines and 5MVA Substation.

Hinabangan is one of the municipalities affected by low voltage and frequent power interruptions from among the areas of FEEDER-8.
FEEDER-8 covers the Municipalities of Daram, Talalora, Parts of Villareal, Calbiga, Hinabangan, and some parts of San Sebastian, Pinabacdao and Paranas.

A 5MVA substation is currently being constructed in Brgy. Nagkaduha, Villareal, Samar, which will answer to the said issues. However, there is a need to construct the 69KV transmission lines from Brgy. Buray, Paranas, Samar all the way through Brgy. Nagkaduha, Villareal, Samar in order for the said substation to operate.

Prior to the implementation of this long-term solution project, SAMELCO II has constructed an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) in Brgy. Bangon, Pinabacdao, Samar. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the low voltage problem. Another AVR was constructed in Talalora, Samar but SAMELCO II continues to receive complaints about low voltage and frequent power interruptions in said areas.

The said project is estimated to be completed by the first quarter of 2021.

The Sangguniang Bayan members of this municipality led by the Honorable Vice Mayor Clarito P. Rosal have been clarified on these issues and concerns, relative to the project.

Through this project, SAMELCO II led by General Manager GM Joey L. Talon, CPA, believes that this will bring safe, reliable and quality power supply in the Municipalities of Daram, Talalora, Villareal, Calbiga, Hinabangan, and some parts of San Sebastian, Pinabacdao and Paranas.

The SAMELCO II Team who attended the said meeting were Engr. Ricky Langi, Technical Services Department OIC; Engr. Zaldy J. Quebada, System Design and Development Supervisor; Mr. Melben Obidos, System Analyst; and Lemuel C. Labendia, Information Officer.
