The Federation of Rural Electric Cooperatives of Region VIII (FRECOR-8) led by its President, GM Joey L. Talon, CPA, held a General Assembly and Strategic Alignment of Electric Cooperative (EC) Leaders in Eastern Visayas on April 7, 2021 at Pascualino’s Ristorante Italiano in Sta. Rita, Samar, with the theme “Arise As One: “Championing National Development and Building Sustainable Communities through Rural Electrification.”
The event started with a Doxology performed by the Queen of Lights choir from Don Orestes Romualdez Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DORELCO). It was followed by a welcome message by FRECOR-8 President, GM Talon to officially open the event.
SAMELCO II singers entertained the participants of said event by a choral rendition of the song “Gintong Liwanag”- a song that was composed by Mr. Allan Joseph Borrinaga, Institutional Services Department Manager of BILECO. It was followed by the solidarity messages from PHILRECA thru PHILRECA General Manager GM Janeene Depay-Colingan, PHILRECA Partylist thru Congressman Presley de Jesus, and APEC Partylist Congressman Sergio Dagooc.
RENAGMEC Power Corporation President, Atty. GM Jose Michael Edwin S. Amancio, CPA, introduced the keynote speaker- National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Edgrado Rama Masongsong.
Administrator Masongsong emphasized to the leaders of the 11 ECs to continue their rural electrification programs that will gear up towards nation building and sustainable rural development.
Before the start of the afternoon plenary, the participants were entertained by a song number “Tatak Solid and One” performed by Mr. Froilan Carmen. It was followed by the accomplishment reports. For FRECOR-8, the report was presented by GM Joey L. Talon, CPA, FRECOR-8 President. For RENAGMEC Power Corporation, the report was presented by its President, GM Edwin Amancio. For NAGMEC, the report was presented by its President, GM Allan Laniba. For DIRECTOR 8, the report was presented by its President, Dalmacio Grafil. For the National Center for Electric Consumers Cooperative (NCECCO), the report was presented by its Vice President for Visayas, Atty. Gerardo Teves. For One EC Network Foundation, the report was presented by its Executive Director, Edmundo Pacamalan, Jr.
One of the highlights of the event was the signing of the Empowerment Compact which is composed of the following content:
